Ariegeois.

FCI 20: scenthound used for driving game to waiting guns and for coursing; his medium size and lightness make him a precious auxiliary whether he hunts on his own or in a pack, able to work difficult terrain. Hardworking, shows initiative and enterprise. UKC: a hunting/working scenthound of endurance and staying power regarded highly by French houndsmen; lighter and finer than its Grand Bleu de Gascogne and Grand Gascon-Saintongeois forebears. French Wikipedia: bred for hunting with the gun and on horseback (a tir et a courre); suits plain, forest and especially mountain..

Breed sets the odds. The parents set the dog. Every number here shows its source, its spread and how sure we are. Nothing on this page is a prediction about one dog.

Search pattern

FCI 20: works alone or in a pack; drives game to the waiting guns; resounding voice and quick in plotting. UKC: good speed, surprisingly deep powerful voice and remarkable scenting ability; works in close proximity with other hounds and handlers, so aggression toward hounds or people is a fault. French Wikipedia: fine nose and a fine voice.

How to read this page

Every value carries a label. Measured means peer-reviewed data on many dogs. Studied means peer-reviewed, smaller or indirect. Breed club means a club or registry states it. Editorial means expert opinion with no measurement behind it. Where two good sources disagree, both are shown and neither is averaged.

Published when the entry rests on the best information available from no fewer than three independent sources, checked by a second pass that did not write it. 1 sources on this page. Found something wrong? Tell us and the correction is logged with its date.
