Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog.

FCI 351 utilization: the dog's prime function, 'one in which he has no peer', is the control and herding of cattle in both wide open and confined areas, in harsh conditions; always alert, courageous and trustworthy, with devotion to duty. UKC: a natural aptitude in the working and controlling of cattle; 'cousins' to the Australian Cattle Dog, 'a breed in their own right', not cattle dogs with docked tails; recognized by UKC on January 1, 1996. FCI history: bred for herding cattle in the early 19th century; Hall's Heeler (circa 1830) or the Timmins Biters, red bob-tailed dogs from Smithfield and Dingo crosses that were 'too severe on the stock', then a smooth blue merle Collie was introduced.

Breed sets the odds. The parents set the dog. Every number here shows its source, its spread and how sure we are. Nothing on this page is a prediction about one dog.

How to read this page

Every value carries a label. Measured means peer-reviewed data on many dogs. Studied means peer-reviewed, smaller or indirect. Breed club means a club or registry states it. Editorial means expert opinion with no measurement behind it. Where two good sources disagree, both are shown and neither is averaged.

Published when the entry rests on the best information available from no fewer than three independent sources, checked by a second pass that did not write it. 2 sources on this page. Found something wrong? Tell us and the correction is logged with its date.
