FCI standard 374
Brazilian Campeiro Bulldog.
FCI 374 utilization: a livestock guarding dog, watchdog and companion dog; the CBKC translation says 'trabalho com gado, guarda e companhia' (work with cattle, guard, companion). History per FCI: descended from bulldogs brought by European immigrants and developed in southern Brazil; used to capture stray cattle in hostile field and native forest, helping to locate, capture and drive them; also companion and guard of the countryman; also used in old slaughterhouses to contain animals for slaughter; the lower jaw projects just enough for the dog to hold the ox. Temperament per FCI: vigilant, calm, persevering, brave, very docile, controllable without being shy, barks little. Wikipedia (English): traditionally a catch dog holding cattle, often in slaughterhouses; numbers fell to near extinction after slaughterhouse use was banned in the 1970s; a private breeding program began in the mid-1970s; recognised by the CBKC in 2001 and by the FCI in 2025; 'known to be aggressive to other dogs'. Wikipedia (Portuguese): the rescue was led by Ralf Schein Bender, who in the late 1970s began gathering the last dogs; official CBKC recognition in 2001..
Breed sets the odds. The parents set the dog. Every number here shows its source, its spread and how sure we are. Nothing on this page is a prediction about one dog.
