Search pattern

SKK: a slow driving hound (långsamt drivande hund), built for drevjakt, meaning driving the game with the voice; very great hunting desire (mycket stor jaktlust). Wikipedia: Drever comes from the Swedish word drev, a hunt where the dogs drive the game toward the hunter; roe deer are nervous quarry, so the hound must move slowly. FCI: a track hound that works efficiently in Swedish terrain. UKC: used for deer tracking.

Voice on the line is not described in the sources read: neither FCI, UKC nor SKK describes the Drever's voice. Pack versus single work is not stated in the sources read. Editorial views are shown beside the standard, labelled; where they disagree both stand (Chad, Oct 8 2026).

How common the problems are

Evaluated dogs skew toward breeding stock; the numbers are still the best there are.

Most common disorders

SKK: the breed has few health problems, but breathing problems after or during hunting and abnormal tiredness, so-called hunting edema (jaktödem), occur in the breed.

How to read this page

Every value carries a label. Measured means peer-reviewed data on many dogs. Studied means peer-reviewed, smaller or indirect. Breed club means a club or registry states it. Editorial means expert opinion with no measurement behind it. Where two good sources disagree, both are shown and neither is averaged.

Published when the entry rests on the best information available from no fewer than three independent sources, checked by a second pass that did not write it. 3 sources on this page. Found something wrong? Tell us and the correction is logged with its date.
