Coat

FCI 361: two coat varieties. Short-haired: harsh texture, dense, even over body and limbs, undercoat often present, some rough hair 1.0 to 1.5 cm on muzzle and limbs. Rough-haired: rough to the touch, about 3 to 4 cm, even over body and limbs. Colours: fawn from light to dark rich tan, black and tan, and brindle; white markings can be present. Tail: saber carriage, never fringed; docked tail slightly less than half length where the law allows. Wikipedia EN: smooth or rough; in 2018 over 90 percent of new registrations were smooth-haired. Wikipedia IT: coat black, fawn or brindle.

Breed clubFederation Cynologique Internationale, 2018

FCI describes sizes once for both coats, so no lines. Wikipedia EN's 90 percent smooth figure is for 2018 registrations.

Heat tolerance

4 of 5 · FCI 361: short harsh dense coat, often with undercoat; rough variety 3 to 4 cm.

DerivedFederation Cynologique Internationale, 2018

Derived from the coat description (short dense coat = 4). The rough variety is denser. No measured data.

Energy

FCI 361: high hunting drive and strong temperament; self-confident; an excellent hunter alone or as a pack member. Wikipedia IT: great genetic variability thanks to the very large number of founder dogs registered (about 6,600 in 2009, the third-largest Italian breed by registrations), which the article hopes will reduce hereditary disease. Wikipedia EN: more than 6,600 dogs registered in 2009 (the highest number of registrations for any Italian breed); recognised by ENCI in 2009 and provisionally accepted by FCI in 2018.

Breed clubFederation Cynologique Internationale, 2018

Wikipedia EN and IT disagree on the 2009 rank (highest vs third); both stand. No temperament study read.
