FCI and UKC print only 'scent hound'. Pack work, voice and quarry come from Wikipedia EN, which in turn cites older general encyclopedias (Alderton 1987, Morris 2001). Editorial views are shown beside the standard, labelled; where they disagree both stand (Chad, Oct 8 2026).

Primary game

Wikipedia EN: wild boar, deer, fox and hare (usual quarry). FCI and UKC name no quarry.

EditorialWikipedia (English)

Single editorial source (cites Alderton 1987, Morris 2001); no registry names a quarry.

Search pattern

Wikipedia EN: traditionally kept as a pack hound; tracks by scent and captures game; a distinctive high-pitched voice when hunting; known for great stamina. FCI: a scent hound of remarkable tenacity. Wikipedia SR: very hardy and full of energy; strong innate hunting instinct, so not advised to keep with smaller animals.

EditorialWikipedia (English)

Voice and pack work rest on Wikipedia EN alone; FCI and UKC print neither. Editorial views are shown beside the standard, labelled; where they disagree both stand (Chad, Oct 8 2026).

Every value carries a label. Measured means peer-reviewed data on many dogs. Studied means peer-reviewed, smaller or indirect. Breed club means a club or registry states it. Editorial means expert opinion with no measurement behind it. Where two good sources disagree, both are shown and neither is averaged.

Published when the entry rests on the best information available from no fewer than three independent sources, checked by a second pass that did not write it. 3 sources on this page. Found something wrong? Tell us and the correction is logged with its date.
